EL PESO DE LA HISTORIA

Cayó el muro de Berlín y me cogió, como a todos, por sorpresa.
No estuve en Tianangmen ni en el Sarajevo de antes de la guerra.
Ya no vivía en Madrid cuando el 11-M y tampoco me manifesté en Génova cuando el sistema enseñó los dientes y asesinó a Carlo Giuliani. Del 11-S me enteré, como todos, por la tele.
La Historia me está pasando por encima con el peso de una hoja. Ni siquiera me estoy dando cuenta.

THE WEIGHT OF HISTORY

The wall of Berlin fell and took me, like it happened to everyone, by surprise.
I was not in Tianangmen or in pre-war Sarajevo.
I did not longer live in Madrid on 3/11 nor did I demonstrate in Genoa when the system showed its claws and murdered Carlo Giuliani. I knew of 9/11, like everyone, when I watched it on TV.
History is passing over me with the weight of a leaf. I am not even noticing it.
