OLYMPIC MEDALS COLLECTION

There’s a girl you’re staring while she absent-mindedly smokes at the other end of the bar.
There’s no sign that she is aware of your presence in the room.
You should tell her that she’s right in taking no bloody notice of you,
because you have to your credit
international records of broken promises
and you keep at home
shelves full of fake trophies and medals.
Even so, now that she is looking at you at last,
you smile at her with your so well trained smile,
you gloat over the prospect of your victory.
You, the 100-metre flat race champion
who always pulls out from the marathon.

PROPHECY

Just like nature has mastered

the ancients’ villas ruins,

the grass will grow on our dead bodies

and deserts will conquer our cities,

dust and sand will bury our inventions.

Thousands of years of silence will follow

until a new species, maybe insects,

makes a fire with our sacred books

to warm themselves together in a dark cave,

starting, in doing so, the trip to their own, inevitable apocalypse.

MEMORIA

MEMORY

Just because one day we thought of digging up the fallows’ confederated silence and of lighting with memory’s light the dark abodes of some hidden bones, you screamed blue murder, you felt insulted.
We should then, maybe, burst into your houses with guns on a Sunday morning, rape your women, take the men and youngsters out for a walk, give your babies away to decent, wealthy sterile married couples.
Our problem, and your luck, is that we are human beings and we’ve been taught that harming animals is not right.
